soundedfun.dev is a collection of free tools and guides about Korean food, drinks, travel, and daily life. Everything here is built and maintained by a single developer based in Seoul, using a mix of public data sources, custom crawlers, and manual curation. There is no company, no content team, and no third-party contributors.
One person based in Seoul. A software developer who has lived in South Korea long enough to have opinions about which alleys have the good barbecue places and which ones are tourist traps. The technical work (crawling, building, deploying) and the editorial work (curating restaurants, adapting recipes, taking wallpaper photos) are done by the same person. That is why the whole network of sites shares one design system, one scoring philosophy, and one tone of voice.
Being solo has trade-offs. Response times are slower than a professional operation. Coverage is biased toward the places and topics the maintainer personally cares about. Corrections and new data land in batches rather than live. On the other hand, there is no editorial committee to dilute strong opinions, no "sponsored content" channel, and no pressure to publish anything that does not pass the maintainer's own taste test.
Each subdomain is a focused tool or guide with a specific sourcing pipeline:
Restaurant data on Korea Eats is pulled from Google Maps with a Selenium-based crawler that respects rate limits. Only publicly visible metadata (name, rating, review count, category, address, coordinates, photo links) is captured. Google's proprietary content, including user review text, is not republished. Every restaurant detail page links back to Google Maps as the authoritative source.
Recipes on Charim are adapted from established Korean cooking references. This means working from structured references (ingredient amounts, step order, cook times) rather than scraping narrative text. Translations into English and Japanese are reviewed for natural phrasing rather than published as raw machine output.
Wallpaper photos are all original work. Each image carries EXIF metadata (capture date, location coordinates where available, dominant color) that is displayed on the detail page as a transparency measure.
soundedfun.dev is supported by minimal advertising through Google AdSense. Nothing is charged to visitors, no account is required, and no content is locked behind paywalls. Where a link goes to an affiliate program (for example, Coupang Partners for cooking ingredients on Charim), it is disclosed with a "sponsored" link relation on the link itself and labeled clearly on the page. No affiliate arrangement influences what shows up in rankings or recommendations.
Questions, feedback, corrections, and partnership inquiries are welcome. If you notice an error in the data, have a suggestion for improvement, or want to report a bug, email [email protected] with the page URL and a specific description of the issue. Typical response time is 2 to 3 business days.
