Suwon Haenggung Square and a Dumpling Lunch
Begin at Hwaseong Haenggung Square and choose dumplings or beef noodle soup at Suwon Mandu.
A compact sightseeing-and-meal plan
- Start at Hwaseong Haenggung Square and decide whether to add an interior palace visit.
- Return to the square before heading toward Paldallo 1-ga. Use street crossings and the restaurant address rather than treating the palace grounds as a shortcut.
- Finish at Suwon Mandu (수원만두), Paldallo 1-ga 5-2, for a sit-down meal.

Meet at the palace square
Hwaseong Haenggung (화성행궁) is the palace destination; the square outside provides a clear starting point. The Suwon Cultural Foundation visitor information lists a tourist information office in the square. Keep the Korean name available when checking a map or asking for the entrance.
Choose dumplings or a bowl
Mandu means dumplings. Gun-mandu (군만두) are fried; mul-mandu (물만두) are boiled. Suwon Mandu also serves sogogi-tangmyeon (소고기탕면), a beef noodle soup. Fried and boiled dumplings offer different textures, so a shared order can make sense for two people. Check portions before adding several plates.
Leave room for weather and queues
The foundation advises public transport because parking around Haenggung-dong can be congested. Palace admission is a separate decision from visiting the square. If entry is unavailable, continue with the square and meal; in heavy rain, shorten the outdoor portion. Check the restaurant before making lunch the fixed endpoint, especially with luggage or a larger group.
