Choose the dish, then fit it into your day

Pick lunch to match the part of Jongno you will visit: Jong-ro 16-gil for Ttukbaegi Jip, Insadong 8-gil for Doma Insa, or Bukchon-ro 2-gil for Onmigwan. Then compare the dish and its ordering unit. A listed stew, a rice set and a shared platter do not represent the same amount of food.

Ttukbaegi Jip

Ttukbaegi Jip is the stew option on Jong-ro 16-gil. The Korea Tourism Organization lists soft tofu, freshwater-snail soybean paste and kimchi stews here. Look for sundubu-jjigae for soft tofu or ureong-doenjang-jjigae for the snail version. Choose your stew before comparing the menu price; these are different dishes, even though both arrive in a hot pot.

Doma Insa

Doma Insa is on Insadong 8-gil. Compare the rice-set section with the shared black-pork shabu-shabu before ordering: a set meal and a hot pot are different ways to build lunch. Doenjang-jjigae, the fermented soybean paste stew, is a focus of the restaurant. Confirm what comes with your chosen set and whether the shabu price is per portion or per pot.

Onmigwan Anguk

Onmigwan is on Bukchon-ro 2-gil, on the Bukchon side of Anguk. Its eobok-jaengban is a beef platter simmered in clear broth. Choose this stop when the meal itself is part of your afternoon plan, and check the portion size and total platter price before ordering. The Seoul tourism guide describes brisket, tongue and tripe, so this is a different choice from a simple beef-only soup.

Compare the cost of the whole order

Check the menu price beside the exact dish you plan to order. For a set, check what is included. For a hot pot, ask whether the price is per person or per pot, how many portions you must order, and whether rice is extra. Current prices and minimum orders have not been confirmed for this comparison.

  • One diner: compare the stew and rice-set menus first, then confirm that a one-person order is available.
  • Sharing: count the required portions, rice and any extras before dividing the total between diners.
  • Different food preferences: check the actual ingredients before settling on one shared pot. A soft-tofu dish does not by itself establish a vegetarian option.
